How can our nonprofit pay volunteer stipends without cash, checks or reimbursements?
Crowded lets a nonprofit pay stipends by funding each recipient’s own Crowded account and Visa® debit card, so recipients never spend their own money and wait to be paid back. The organization sends or schedules stipends from its Crowded dashboard, to one recipient or a whole group at once.
How do Crowded's Per Diem cards work?
Crowded’s per diem cards work in four steps: the nonprofit funds its Crowded account, creates an account and debit card for each recipient, sends or schedules the per diem, and the recipient spends it with the card. Recipients can be added one at a time or in bulk from a CSV.
Can a university athletic department pay team per diems with Crowded?
Yes, university athletic departments use Crowded to pay team travel per diems: the department creates an account for each player from the roster and sends per diems before each trip, tagged by team or trip. See how Post University Athletics runs it.
Can we pay scholarships or grants to individuals through Crowded?
Yes, Crowded can send scholarship, award and grant funds directly to individual recipients’ accounts.
Can recipients overspend a Crowded disbursement?
No, recipients of a Crowded disbursement can only spend the amount the nonprofit has sent to their account, because the money sits on a debit card, not a credit line.
Can we stop recipients from spending disbursement money at certain merchants?
Yes, Crowded lets a nonprofit block merchant types for disbursement recipients, such as liquor stores and gambling sites.
How do recipients get their money out of Crowded?
Recipients can spend with their Visa® debit card, transfer the money to a US bank account by ACH, or transfer it to a Visa or Mastercard card, including cards outside the US.
Can our nonprofit pay recipients outside the US?
Yes, Crowded can pay international recipients by transferring funds to their Visa or Mastercard card. Crowded’s Visa® debit cards also work wherever Visa debit cards are accepted.
How much do Crowded's stipend payments and per diem cards cost?
Crowded includes 2 Per Diem accounts on the $0 Essentials plan, 10 on the Pro plan ($49.99 a month) and unlimited on Custom; extra accounts cost $10 per account a month, or $8 billed annually. Digital debit cards are $0 and physical cards are $8 each.
Does Crowded sync disbursements to our accounting software?
Yes, Crowded syncs transactions, including disbursements, to QuickBooks, Xero and Sage Intacct. See the Integrations page for more information.
