How to Use Crowded for Free

Money doesn’t grow on trees – so we wanted to give our users the hacks of how they can use Crowded without spending anything.

1. Opening an Account

Opening an account, and creating a bank account* is does not cost a penny. Just make sure you have all of your organizationโ€™s information handy to speed up the process: EIN, Legal Entity Name, and Business Address. See our guide for opening a bank account* for help

2. Depositing funds

Once your account is opened, bring money into your account to enable all of the financial features. Deposit funds via Plaid/ACH or deposit a check to fund your account with no fees. See our deposit guide.

3. Creating Collections

When you create a fixed amount Collect, make sure to select the option โ€œhave payers absorb processing costs.โ€ This will have your supporters/members cover the payment processing fee, and your organization will not need to pay anything.ย

4. Creating Expense Cards

Assign unlimited virtual debit Expense Cards for free for contacts. There are no costs associated with creating a virtual debit card or using it to spend (within the US). Your organization can spend your funds as you wish! Virtual cards are also much less prone to fraud and loss.ย

5. Avoiding Transfer Fees

Avoid spending through ACH or check and use an Expense or Admin digital debit card instead. Admin cards are auto-loaded with the balance of the main checking account – perfect for big ticket purchases! Sending an ACHย  or check comes with a fee (check our fee schedule for the updated feed).ย

6. Withdrawing Cash

If you need to withdraw cash, do so at anyย Allpoint Network ATM, located around the countryย for free.ย
