What’s a Crowded Per Diem account?
A Crowded Per Diem account is an online account where individuals receive their salary money and can spend it however they wish! The funds in a Per Diem account are automatically tied to a digital debit card that can be added to any virtual wallet and used anywhere globally (where Visa is accepted).

Setting up your Crowded profile
1. Find the sign-up link your camp has sent you to join Crowded (if you’ve been pre-registered, skip to step 2).
The registration link for Crowded may be in your email, text message, or however your camp is communicating with you.
Please do not sign up for a new account on the Crowded app or website. This will not be connected to the account your money is waiting!
Once you click on the registration link, you’ll be asked a few identifying questions.
Fill in and verify your email. Then provide your legal full name, home phone number, and date of birth. And you’re registered!
Tip: Even if you get a local US phone number for the summer, it’s best to sign up to Crowded with your home cell phone number. You’ll be able to receive the verification code through WhatsApp (this is especially important for accessing your account after camp ends!)
2. Download the Crowded app from the App Store or Play Store. If your camp has already pre-registered you, simply log in with your phone number.
3. Once you’ve downloaded Crowded, you’ll be prompted to provide some details and create a 4-digit PIN code. Please keep a record of this PIN.
Add Your card to Your Virtual Wallet
Once you’re logged into your account, you’ll see the digital debit card tied to your Per Diem account. To add the card to your virtual wallet, click the “Add to Apple Wallet” or “Add to Google Wallet” icons.
If these buttons are not available, see the following instructions to add your Per Diem card to your virtual wallet manually.
For Apple Wallet:
- Go to the Wallet app.
- Tap on ‘+‘
- Tap on Debit or Credit Card
- Tap on ‘Continue‘.
- Tap ‘Enter card Details Manually.’
- Log in to your Crowded app. Click into the card you’d like to add to Apple Pay.
- Click ‘View Card Details’ and enter your passcode and wait for the text message with a unique code.
- Click on the 16-digit card number to copy to clipboard.
- Return to the Wallet app and paste into the ‘Card Number‘ field. Fill in the CVV and expiration date too, and click ‘Next’.
- Read the Issuer Terms and tap ‘Accept‘.
- After, you’ll be prompted to ‘verify’ the new card and choose the method.
- Enter the code from the specified method and you’ll be good to go
For Google Wallet
- Open the Google Wallet app.
- At the bottom, tap Add to Wallet +.
- Tap Payment card.
- Any cards you saved to your Google Account are shown.
- Tap New credit or debit card.
- To add a card, use your camera or tap Enter details manually.
- Log in to your Crowded app. Click into the card you’d like to add to Apple Pay.
- Click ‘View Card Details’ and enter your passcode and wait for the text message with a unique code.
- Click on the 16-digit card number to copy to clipboard.
- Return to the Wallet app and paste into the ‘Card Number‘ field. Fill in the CVV and expiration date too, and click ‘Next’.
- At the bottom, tap Save.
- Read the Issuer Terms and tap Accept.
- If you’re asked to verify your payment method, choose the method you prefer
- Learn how to verify your payment method.
- You’ll receive a one-time passcode.
- Enter the code and you’ll be good to go
Tip: After this step, you should get a message that your card was added and is ready to make contactless payments in stores, online, or in apps where Google Pay is accepted. If you get a different message, learn to fix a problem.
After you add a card, you might find a small transaction on your account from Google Wallet. This transaction checks that your card and account are valid. This transaction will soon disappear and won’t affect your balance.
2. Once your card is set up, set up your biometric passkey for easy logins (if your phone allows) by clicking on “More” on the main dashboard of the app. Then select “Security” and enable facial recognition or fingerprint authentication. If you already have biometric recognition enabled on your phone, it will connect automatically.
Tip: Setting up facial or touch recognition is especially important if you won’t have access to your home cell phone number while abroad.

⚖️ Checking your balance
Log in to the Crowded app – you can view your current balance from the main dashboard.
💰 Getting cash
You can withdraw cash at any All Point ATM with a physical debit card for free.
💳 Using your card
Tap to pay at any store or restaurant with your phone, or use the card online. Cards can be used anywhere Visa® is accepted.
📱 Mobile app
Use the app to track your spending, report your card if lost or stolen, and transfer money to an external bank account or to your fellow staff members.

In-network cash withdrawal: $0
Out-of-network cash withdrawal: $2.50
International debit card usage: 1%, Visa® Exchange Rate

How to transfer money abroad
Crowded has partnered with Visa & Mastercard to enable international staff to send their money home in-app! Send money directly to a Visa or Mastercard debit or credit card globally almost instantly.
1. Log into the Crowded app and select “Transfer Money” and select “Transfer to Card”.
2. Input your home debit or credit card information:
- Full name on card
- Card number
- Expiration date
- CVV
- ZIP code
- Currency
3. Choose how much money you’d like to transfer. If you’d like to empty all the money left in your account click the “Select Max Amount” button.”
4. Check everything over, and if all the details are correct, submit the transfer!
The cost of the transfer includes a $15 flat fee and 1% of the total transfer amount.
There is a limit of $4,000 per transfer. If you’d like to transfer more money, we recommend Remitly!

How to transfer money to an external US bank account via ACH
1. From the Crowded main dashboard, click on “Transfer Money”.
3. Choose “ACH Transfer” to make an ACH transfer to a US bank account.
4. Click “Add Recipient” and provide the necessary information for the recipient’s bank account (ie. routing number, account number, account type).
5. Once you enter the recipient’s bank information, click “Add”.
6. Complete the verification process by entering your 4-digit Crowded pin code for added security.
7. After successfully adding the recipient bank account, select it as the destination for your transfer.
8. Enter the amount you wish to transfer from your Per Diem account to the recipient’s bank account.
9. Double-check the details and confirm to finalize the transfer. Funds normally take 1-2 business days to clear.
How to transfer money to another staff member
1. From the Crowded main dashboard, click on “Transfer Money”.
2. To transfer money to another counselor, click the “Within my group option.”
3. Select the Crowded member you’d like to transfer to.
4. Enter the amount for the transfer, and a few words for reference.
5. Double-check the details and click “Pay” to finalize.

What are Per Diem accounts?
Your camp has set up a Per Diem account for you in order to pay you your salary. A Per Diem account is a type of banking account that is set up for the benefit of a specific individual or entity. What's important for you to know? You are the beneficiary of this account, and all funds sent to this account belong to you.
Where can I use my digital or physical card?
Your cards can be used worldwide anywhere where Visa® cards are accepted.
What should I do if my card has been stolen or lost?
Log in to your Crowded account, and go to your card details. Click on “Report Card Lost or Stolen” and select the relevant option.
What are the purchase limits for my digital card?
The daily limit for card purchases is $5,000, and it resets at 7:00 p.m. EST daily.
Who do I contact if I need technical help or support?

What should I do if I notice unauthorized activity on my card?
Please contact Visa's toll-free hotline 1-855-681-9411 to report the unauthorized transaction. Check your email (including spam) to see if you received any email notifications from VISA.
Can I deposit a check into my Per Diem account?
Unfortunately, you are not able to deposit checks into Per Diem accounts at this time
What if I forgot my card PIN?
Please reach out to our support team. to reset your card PIN.
Are there any restrictions on where I can spend?
Crowded prohibits its card from being used for any illegal activity, internet gambling, and retains the right to refuse transactions.
You cannot use your account for any illegal purposes or, regardless of whether it is legal or illegal, for online gambling of any sort, including any betting transaction, purchase of lottery tickets, casino chips, or off-track betting and wagering.
Crowded may deny any transaction or refuse to accept any deposit that we believe is related to illegal activity, online gambling, or for any other reason at our discretion. However, in the event that a charge or transaction described in this section is approved and processed, you will still be liable for the charges.
